January Meeting: For our first meeting our NEW LOCATION, DCWOC brings you three candidates hoping to unseat Congressman Dana Rohrabacher in the 2018 election—Harley Rouda, Laura Oatman, and Boyd Roberts—and Pat Harris, progressive Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate. Who will you vote for in the June primary? Come see for yourself what they have to say! Bring questions! Bring a friend! Candidates for the 48th Congressional District: HARLEY ROUDA is a businessman, philanthropist, and attorney who serves on the board of, or as an advisor to, firms in real estate, retail, and a variety of other industries. He received his MBA from Ohio State University and his J.D. from Capital University Law School. “I’m running,” he says, “to bring much needed common sense, fiscal responsibility, and the social pragmatism our 48th District and our country deserves.” BOYD ROBERTS s is a small businessman and real estate broker. He holds a BA in economics from Cal State San Bernardino, studied at Waseda University in Tokyo, and has 14 years of experience as a commodities broker. “I am running on a platform of cost effective governance,” he says, “where the public has full access to publicly owned resources.” LAURA OATMAN is a business owner, community activist, and mother of five. She earned her BA at UC Irvine and a Master’s in Architecture from UCLA. As a LEED-accredited architect, she has worked on sustainable hotel projects in Europe, Mexico, and the Caribbean. “I'm running for Congress,” she says, “to bring shared values and common-sense, forward-thinking solutions back to Washington.” Candidate for U.S. Senate: PAT HARRIS is an attorney in practice for 23 years, as a public defender and later as a criminal defense attorney in California--most recently with an emphasis on civil rights cases. He has a degree in history from the University of Arkansas and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. He is running for U.S. Senate as a progressive Democrat because “he believes that the progressive movement can change the direction of the party, resurrecting a Democratic Party that fights for the working class and isn’t influenced by corporate donations.” NEW LOCATION!
